Stretched canvas made with high end materials

All Master Toiles® stretched canvases are made in France, in our workshop located in Barbezieux Saint-Hilaire.

100 % Linen stretched canvas collection

Linen stretched canvases are made with solid Maritime Pinewood sloped sticks (no finger joints). The sticks are assembled without glue, instead using traditional woodworking techniques mortise and tenon.

Our linen painting canvases are made from long fibers, calandered after weaving. These canvases are then prepared and glued in our workshop with the traditional « saber » method.

Traditional « saber » technique:

  • 2 layers of skin glue

  • 2 layers of Master Toiles® universal coating

Skin glue is historically recognized for its conservative properties, while the quality and specificity of the Master Toiles® coating helps paint grip onto the canvas better, and improves the colour quality. The canvas is sanded between each layer to ensure a perfectly regular grain. Finally, the linen canvas is attached to the frame with tacks.

Master Toiles Linen canvas is suitable for all techniques : oil, acrylic…

Thick stretched canvas, polyester or poly-cotton

Our range is completed with thick stretched canvases with 3 back-tinted materials and 2 colours:

  • Fine grain white 100% polyester canvas - tinted back
  • Medium grain white polyester / cotton mixed canvas - tinted back
  • Medium grain black polyester / cotton mixed canvas - tinted back

These canvases were coated with an acrylic primer in order to improve their versatility and make them better suited for a wider range of uses, akin to a linen canvas. The canvas is attached to the back of the frame with staples.
